Silberkugel Oerlikon
4.6 on Google

Curated by PortaMi
The Silberkugel chain was founded in 1961 by Mövenpick's Ueli Prager as Switzerland's answer to the American diner, and the Oerlikon branch is one of its last survivors – a retro time-capsule of chrome, bullseye windows and a red-tiled counter. It serves the cult "Silber-Beefy" burger and Swiss-diner curiosities like beef tartare and a Schinken-Käse toast, at wallet-friendly prices.
Why go
- The cult "Silber-Beefy" burger with fries and cocktail sauce
- Also breakfast – burgers with eggs and bacon
- Retro American diner interior, barely changed since the 1960s
- One of the last surviving Silberkugel locations
- Inexpensive; a genuine Swiss-Americana curiosity
