The Silberkugel chain was founded in 1961 by Mövenpick's Ueli Prager as Switzerland's answer to the American diner, and the Oerlikon branch is one of its last survivors – a retro time-capsule of chrome, bullseye windows and a red-tiled counter. It serves the cult "Silber-Beefy" burger and Swiss-diner curiosities like beef tartare and a Schinken-Käse toast, at wallet-friendly prices.

Pourquoi y aller

  • The cult "Silber-Beefy" burger with fries and cocktail sauce
  • Also breakfast – burgers with eggs and bacon
  • Retro American diner interior, barely changed since the 1960s
  • One of the last surviving Silberkugel locations
  • Inexpensive; a genuine Swiss-Americana curiosity
